MARIETTA — Marietta College, ranked No. 12 in the country, scored double-digit runs in both games of an Ohio Athletic Conference sweep of the Wilmington College baseball team at Don & Sue Schaly Stadium Saturday.

The Pioneers took game one 12-2 and won the nightcap 11-3. WC is 1-9, 0-6.

The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader Sunday but rain forced the twinbill to be postponed and a single game scheduled Monday afternoon.

Luke Chappie took the game one pitching loss for Wilmington. Ryan Townsend also pitched for the Quakers.

Owen Baumann singled in Jesse Reliford in the seventh then Reliford knocked in Evan Kelsey in the eighth for the only WC scoring.

In the second game, WC took a 2-0 lead on a Reliford single that scored Tyler Shaneyfelt then a Luke Kleindl sacrifice fly. After Marietta made it 2-1, the Quakers pushed the difference to 3-1 on another Kleindl sac fly.

Kaleb Stines took the pitching loss for Wilmington. Lincoln Howard, GlenAllen Anderson and Thomas Hueber all pitched for WC.

Caleb Scott finished 3-for-4 for Wilmington as the top three in the order recorded all six of the squad’s hits.
