MT. ORAB — The Blanchester softball team opened its season Saturday in a tournament at Western Brown.

The Ladycats were defeated by the Broncos 7-1 in the opener then by Indian Lake 15-9 in the second game.

“We played two quality opponents,” BHS head coach Jamey Grogg said.

Rianna Mueller and Bailey Dawley took the pitching losses for Blanchester.

“Both pitchers threw well and we made some great defensive plays behind them, including two outstanding catches by Lydia Peters in right and several great plays by Madison Creager at shortstop.”

Maggie Caldwell and Emma Case had their first career homeruns for BHS in the second game.

“We have some things to clean up and improve upon but with the effort these girls put forth each day, I know we will continue to improve each time we step on the field,” said Grogg.
