BLANCHESTER — In a season-opening doubleheader, the Blanchester baseball team defeated Yellow Springs 21-0 and 21-2 Saturday afternoon at Bott Field on the BHS campus.
The Wildcats (2-0) gave up just one hit and struck out 18 batters. Yellow Springs was missing its top four players, according to Blanchester head coach Aaron Lawson.
Still it was an impressive start to the season for the Wildcats.
Adam Frump picked up the pitching win in the first game, striking out seven while allowing no hits in three innings. Dylan Estep was the winner in the second game, fanning 11 in four innings. He gave up one hit.
At the plate, Trenton Czaika had six hits, scored seven runs and drove in five runs in the two games. Brody Rice blasted a pair of homeruns in the first game and finished with five hits, five runs and five RBI. Jake Ficke scored three runs in each game.
