Hillsboro beats East Clinton, bitter cold, 20-5

LEES CREEK — On a bitter cold afternoon, Hillsboro took advantage of nine East Clinton errors to score a 20-5 win in five innings in non-league baseball action.

“Multiple mental mistakes,” EC coach Brian Carey said. “Our baseball IQ has to get better. Lack of experience was evident.”

Carey was pleased his team continued to battle throughout the game and the pitchers continued to work.

Denver Day made his first varsity pitching appearance. Gavin Denniston started on the mound and was tagged with the loss. Jaden Singleton also pitched for the Astros.

Singleton had two hits at the plate.
