WILMINGTON — Capital University, which had surrendered just a single goal in its six games, netted one in each half of a 2-0 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Wilmington College at Williams Stadium Thursday evening.

Wilmington, which trailed 1-0 at halftime after being outshot 10-5 in the first 45 minutes, picked up its play in the second half. Unfortunately for the hosts, Capital pounced on a miscue in Wilmington’s defensive third to double its lead in the 72nd minute.

Lauren Galloway took the loss despite making 10 saves on a dozen shots.

Heidi Edens led Wilmington offensively with three shots including two on goal. Coincidentally, the sophomore’s one shot that missed target in the ninth minute was perhaps the host’s best chance to score, but the shot sailed just wide of the far post. Courtney Ryan, Abby Spirk and Elizabeth Matthews also fired multiple shots on goal.

Wilmington (3-3-2) will conclude its 2021 spring regular season at John Carroll University Sunday.
