BMS boys win Vern Hawkins Inv. at GHS

The Blanchester Middle School boys track team won the Vern Hawkins Middle School Invitational Saturday at Georgetown High School.

The young Wildcats were led by three-event winner Nick Musselman. Blanchester scored 120 points. Musselman won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes.

Michael Mulvihill won the high jump, was second in the long jump and third in the 100. Isaiah Snader and Steve Lester went 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles. Snader was sixth in the 200 hurdles.

Payton Hopkins was second in the 200 hurdles and sixth in the long jump, Casey Gilbert third in the high jump and Hunter Montgomery third in the discus and seventh in the shot put. Alex Johnson finished seventh in the 200 dash.

The 4×100 relay team of Johnson, Quenten Myers, Odin Taylor and Nainoa Tangonan and the 4×400 team of Myers, Hopkins, Snader and Tangonan both finished second. The 4×200 team of Lyric Dunham, Taylor, Conley Pembleton and Caleb Johnson placed seventh.

On the girls side, Blanchestesr finished fifth. Jaida Jones won the 200-meter hurdles in 35.52 seconds.

Lilly Bates was seventh in the 100 hurdles with a personal best time of 21.0. Kendall Koch was fourth in the 200 hurdles in 36.9.

The 4×200 team of Kaci Grillot, Morgyn Coyle, Bates and Alison Trovillo finished third overall. The 4×100 relay of Breanna Weldon, Mackenzie Blankenbeckler, Koch and Jones finished fourth as did the 4×400 team of Karlee Tipton, Addi Allen, Maggie Grant and Trovillo.

Blanchester’s girls were 10th in the Waynesville Invitational on April 10.

Weldon, Blankenbeckler, Koch and Jones were fifth in the 4×100 relay. Grillot, Madison Woodyard, Mason Taylor and Coyle placed eighth in the 4×200.

Koch was fourth in the 200 hurdles and Audri Byrom placed sixth in the shot put. Madison Gillman and Kylee Hamm tied for fourth in the high jump.

Alayna Davenport, Addison Allen, Grant and Trovillo teamed for an eighth-place finish in the 4×400.
