Woods wins G-MAC golf tournament

For the first time in eight years, a freshman earned medalist honors in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference women’s golf tournament.

Clinton-Massie graduate Gabby Woods had a three-round total of 224 and edged out Findlay University teammate Kristina Kniesly for tournament high honors.

The Oilers won the tournament by 27 strokes. The event was held at the University Club of Kentucky’s Big Blue golf course.

Findlay has won three straight team championships.

Woods, who was tied for fourth in the OHSAA Division II girls golf championship tournament her senior year at Massie, had rounds of 71, 76 and 77.

Woods had nine birdies in three rounds, best in the tournament.

Woods and her teammates will now prepare for the NCAA Division II Super Regional, May 3-5 at Prairie View Golf Course in Carmel, Ind.
