BLANCHESTER — Taking full advantage of five hits, the Blanchester baseball team defeated Norwood 11-5 Friday in a non-league game at Bott Field on the BHS campus.
The Wildcats, 6-3 on the year, earned 13 walks from Indians pitchers.
BHS coach Aaron Lawson was not pleased with his squad’s inability to hit in key situations.
“Don’t let the score fool you,” Lawson said. “We still had plenty of opportunities to cash in runs with runners in scoring position and did not. We left nine runners on base; that can’t happen when we have runners in scoring position with less than two outs.”
Jared Monhollen had four of the ’Cats five hits. The left-handed swinger had a double and triple and drove in two runs. He also picked up the win on the mound, going five innings.
“Jared gave us a nice, quality start,” Lawson said. “That’s something we’ve really been emphasizing with our staff. Every time we take the ball, we need to have a quality outing.”
