BLANCHESTER — In a game shortened to five innings because of rain, the Blanchester softball team lost to Amelia 6-4 Thursday in a non-league matchup.

The Ladycats (7-8 on the year) trailed 5-0 before making a game of it with two runs in both the third and fourth innings.

“We battled all the way to the end against a tough team,” BHS coach Jamey Grogg said. “We were not as sharp (defensively) as we have been and it cost us.”

Five of the six Amelia runs were unearned.

Shayla Sicurella pitched the first three innings and gave up five unearned runs.

Dakota Demitt and Savana Greene had two hits each.
