Krause no-hitter, McCune 5-for-5 in WHS 24-0 win

A complete performance by the Wilmington High School baseball team resulted in a 24-0 win over Washington Senior Monday night in South Central Ohio League action on the WHS diamond.

Stephen Krause took care of the pitching part, hurling a no-hitter in the five inning win. He walked one and one Blue Lion reached base on an error, WHS head coach Rick Kneisel said.

On the offensive end, the Hurricane banged out 25 hits, led by Brady McCune’s 5-for-5 performance. McCune scored two runs and drove in four teammates.

“They weren’t cheap hits, every one was right on the button,” Kneisel said. “They didn’t give us anything. We were hitting the ball really hard. It was an incredible game, especially hitting the ball.”

The win puts Wilmington at 10-7 overall and 9-1 in SCOL play.

The Hurricane scored nine in the second inning and 11 in the third inning.

Brad Keller went 3-for-3, with two doubles, with four runs scored and two runs batted in. Jordan Ianson also went 3-for-3, with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Marlyn Frisco was the third WHS player to go 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.

Chris Wolary had three hits, including a third inning grand slam. Wolary had a double, scored three runs and drove in five runs. Drew Carey had two hits. Krause had two doubles and drove in four runs.
