CHILLICOTHE — A pair of fifth inning homeruns lifted Clinton-Massie to a 3-1 win over Chillicothe Monday in South Central Ohio League softball action.
The Lady Falcons are now 16-0 overall and 10-0 in the league.
“This was an important game for us tonight in regards to the league,” CM coach Andy Lauer said. “We were a little sluggish, with no real playing for a few days because of the weather. I’m very proud of my girls for keeping their focus in that last inning when the game was on the line.”
Up 3-1 in the seventh, Clinton-Massie struggled to close out the win. The Lady Cavaliers loaded the bases with nobody out. Taylor Florea struck out two CHS batters and ended the game on a fielder’s choice.
Florea struck out 11 and scattered six hits as she improved to 10-0 on the year.
“Taylor pitched another stellar game,” Lauer said.
Florea also led off the fifth inning with a solo homer, a run that proved to be the game-winner. Later in the inning with two outs, Kelsey Carter added an insurance run when she belted her second homer of the season over the fence.
