EC volleyball rallies to defeat Goshen 3-2

GOSHEN — Down two sets, the East Clinton volleyball team rallied to defeated Goshen 3-2 Thursday in non-league play between two SBAAC teams.

“This was an amazing game to be a part of,” EC head coach Sarah Sodini said. “Goshen is a very good volleyball team with the best back row we’ve seen all year. They hit well out of the middle and we struggled to defend it.”

East Clinton is 8-1 while Goshen falls to 6-5.

Sodini said her team had to make several adjustments throughout the match and “we able to do that and pull off the win. They never stopped believing and worked hard for each point.”

Sodini said Lauren Runyon had her best match of the season, posting 20 kills. Libby Evanshine had 23 kills, making adjustments to beat the Goshen defense.

Kelsi Lilly and Lydia Kessler “fired the team up when they needed some motivation.”

Trinity Bain had five digs, Megan Tong two aces, three kills, 19 assists and eight digs and Jozie Jones a kill and a dig.

Savannah Tolle led with 14 digs while Eryn Bowman had five digs and an assist. Anna Malone had a kill, three blocks, an assist and two digs. Runyon also had an ace, an assist and six digs.

Evanshine also had four aces, four blocks, 22 assists and 19 digs. Mckenzie Pence contributed two kills, a block and two digs. Lilly had seven aces, four kills, two blocks, an assist and 12 digs.

Kessler chipped in with six digs and an assist. Kami Whiteaker had three kills, a block and three digs. Jordan Collom had two aces, an assist and nine digs.
