Blan volleyball takes 2 after loss to WHS

The Blanchester volleyball team won two matches Saturday against Eastern Brown (25-16, 13-25, 25-23) and Hillsboro (25-23, 17-25, 26-24).

The two wins came two days after an 18-25, 19-25, 22-25 loss to Williamsburg in SBAAC National Division competition.

Against Hillsboro, Summer Schutte had 13 points, eight kills, 18 assists and six digs. Makayla Lanham finished with six points, six kills and eight digs. Ainsley Whitaker had four points, five kills and four blocks. Brooklyn Bockstiegel, Madison Creager and Payton Johnson had four kills each. Emma Falgner led with 11 digs while Hope Blankenbeckler had seven assists.

Against Eastern Brown, Schutte had eight kills, six points, 16 assists and seven digs to lead the way. Whitaker added five kills, four blocks and two digs. Lanham played well, coach Rick Seeling said, and finished with four kills, 18 points and six digs. Creager and Bockstiegel had three kills each while Falgner chipped in eight digs. Blankenbecker had seven assists.

Against Williamsburg, Falgner had six digs and Creager recorded two points, a kill and two digs. Lanham had two kills, two digs and an ace. Bockstiegel’s numbers were a kill, two digs and three points. Blankenbeckler had four points, six assists and a block. Whitaker had six kills and four blocks at the net. Johnson finished with six points, two kills and two blocks. Schutte had seven points, two aces, seven kills, 10 assists and three digs in a solid all-around performance.
