Blanchester pushes National win streak to 21

BLANCHESTER — With a pair of wins over Bethel-Tate Monday, the Blanchester tennis team remained unbeaten in SBAAC National Division play.

The Ladycats won two matches by scores of 4-0 and 3-0 under cloudy, rainy conditions.

“A big thanks to (BHS athletic director) Brad Ballinger for helping get the courts dry so we could get these in,” Blanchester head coach Matt Sexton said. “We had just started the second match when it started raining a bit too hard to continue. They decided to play one singles and one doubles in the second one so their girls could get some doubles work, so I’m a bit disappointed we didn’t get to play that one.”

With an eight-match win streak, Blanchester goes to 14-2 on the year. With a 21-match National Division win streak, BHS moves to 9-0 in league play.

“This puts us in position to be in first place going in to the league tournament,” Sexton said. “Our focus is Felicity now and then the league tournament.”

The National Division tournament will be held 9 a.m. Monday at Wilmington High School. BHS will host Felicity 4 p.m. Tuesday with senior night ceremonies being held during the match.
