WAYNESVILLE – Blanchester’s rally from an eight-run deficit came up one run short Wednesday in a 14-13 loss to Waynesville in a non-league softball game at WHS.
The Ladycats were down 14-9 going to the seventh inning. Hope Florea’s double to right-centerfield brought home two runs. However, “Waynesville defense made two perfect throws to get Shayla Sicurella, who was trying to score the tying run from first, out at the plate.”
Madison Curless went 5-for-5, drove in three runs and scored two runs. Hannah Mann had three hits and Kassidy Abney homered and scored three times.
“I am so pleased with the effort and attitude I saw,” BHS coach Jamey Grogg said. “Even though were down eight runs, we continued to battle and put ourselves in a position to tie and possibly win the game. Despite a few miscues, I was also very pleased with the defensive effort, especially the play of Hope Florea in centerfield.”
