Massie boys have strong day at district meet

The Clinton-Massie boys track and field team had a big day Saturday in the finals of the Div. II New Richmond District II Track and Field Championship.

Cole O’Bryon finished third in the 400-meter dash in 53.27 seconds, improving his preliminary time by more than 1.5 seconds.

Jacob Whitaker was fourth in the 1,600-meter run, clocking a 4:46.3.

In the 4×400-meter relay, Cole O’Bryon, Devon O’Bryon, Bailey Leforge and Scott Goings were third in 3:35.86, almost seven seconds faster than their preliminary time.

In the 4×100-meter relay, the foursome of Goings, Devon O’Bryon, Leforge and Brandon Davis finished fourth in 45.64 seconds.

In the 4×200-meter relay, Bryson Mills, Goings, Cole O’Bryon and Devon O’Bryon were fourth in 1:34.64.

The top four in each event in the district meets advanced to the regional meet.

Preslee Rolf cleared 9-0 and finished third in the pole vault Saturday at the Div. II Dayton District Track and Field Championship at Welcome Stadium.

The finish earned Rolf a berth in the Region 8 meet next week.

She will compete in the regional meet as a member of the girls 4×100-meter relay team along with teammates Courtney Gibson, Rachel Avery and Mallory Homan. They finished third in 52.21 seconds in the district meet.

For the boys, Tanner Olberding was fifth in the 3,200-meter run in 10:46.87 while teammates Logan Fisher was 16th in 12:21. Alex Hudson was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:08.43). Scott Goings finished in 43.36 and was sixth in the 300 hurdles.

The girls 4×200-meter relay team of Rolf, Gibson, Avery and Homan ran 1:54.12 and finished fifth, a little under two seconds out of fourth place.

Sidney Avey was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking a 51.1 and finishing less than a half-second out of fourth place. Jocelyn Burton was eighth in the shot put with a toss of 31-2.5.

Homan was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 13.24 seconds. Gibson was 11th in the long jump with a best of 13-4.25 and Meg Patrick was 12th with a jump of 13-3.75.

AJ Houseman was 15th in the 800-meter run in 2:42.73. Katie Hughes ran 13:19.31 and finished ninth in the 3,200-meter run. Karlee Rice cleared 4-2 and finished 11th in the high jump.
