Lady Falcons grab first tennis win over Lady Panthers

MORROW — Three-set wins on two courts lifted Clinton-Massie to its first tennis win of the season Thursday against Little Miami.

The Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Panthers 4-1 in a non-league match at LMHS.

Hailey Clayborn and Anne Thompson in singles action and the doubles team of Claire Carruthers and Hailey Stinchcomb went three sets each to post wins.

“The off-season work put in by Hailey Clayborn and Anne Thompson is showing in some really great tennis right now,” CM coach Lynn Deatherage said.

Clayborn was a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) winner at first singles while Thompson notched a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 win at second singles.

Carruthers and Stinchcomb rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at first doubles.

Clinton-Massie is now 1-1 while Little Miami drops to 0-1.
