BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester Invitational tennis tournament will be continued Wednesday afternoon on the BHS courts.

The tournament commenced Saturday but was halted when “heavy rain forced the suspension of play,” BHS coach and tournament director Matt Sexton said. “We made two attempts to dry courts, only to have more heavy rain.”

The tournament is scheduled to resume at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. Sexton said semifinal and final matches will need to be rescheduled once the field is set.

“A huge thanks to everyone that helped out, especially in the afternoon with all the court rolling, albeit in vein,” said Sexton.

Blanchester results had Emily Speakman defeating Margarita Lawson of Goshen 6-0, 6-1 and the doubles pairing of Erin Wilson and Lilly Tedrick victorious 6-1, 6-0 over Webster and Fogle of Bethel-Tate.

In progress matches for the Ladycats had Megan Weber leading 6-2, 3-0 (15-0) over Kelsey Bose of Amelia and Alexis Vestal and Korie White in warmups for their match against Shouse and Troxell of Bethel-Tate.

Brooke Honaker received a bye in the first round and was awaiting the result of a first-round match to determine her opponent.
