Ladycats open volleyball season with thrilling win

BLANCHESTER — In four tight sets, the Blanchester volleyball team opened its season Tuesday with a 25-19 21-25 25-19 26-24 win over Lynchburg-Clay in non-league action at the BHS gym.

“It was a great start to the season,” BHS coach Jenna Weisflock said. “We got ourselves into a couple holes that we had to dig out of. The girls didn’t give up at all. In the fourth (set), we were down 1-8 at one point and fought our way out of it.”

Shelbie Rose had 18 service points, an ace, two digs, a perfect pass, 23 assists and two kills.

Shayla Sicurella had 17 service points, three kills and six digs. Morgan Oberle had 13 service points, an ace, a dig, seven kills and six blocks. Ally Davis had 12 services points, an ace, two digs, two perfect passes and three kills.

Asia Baldwin had 11 service points, three digs, five perfect passes, 10 kills and two blocks. Cheyenne Brown had four service points, two aces, two digs, a kill and two blocks. Stephanie Gerlach had six service points, seven digs and 22 perfect passes.
