HILLSBORO — Rallying on two courts, the Wilmington High School tennis team knocked off Hillsboro 4-1 Thursday in the South Central Ohio League opener on the HHS courts.

Allison Brooks recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles to get things started well for the Lady Hurricane.

But Katie Schroeder rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles and the doubles team of Sydney Ilg and Sophie Reed came from behind for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 win.

“What impressed me is that our girls refused to give when they were down,” said WHS coach Doug Cooper. “We have girls that want to compete, want to improve and who are learning to adjust to situations when times get tough. They are real competitors.”

Kalista Adkins and Veronica Ilg won 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles.

Wilmington is 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the SCOL.
