Hurricane storms Panthers in SCOL match 4-1

EBER — Wilmington improved to 10-2 on the year with a 4-1 win over Miami Trace Thursday in South Central Ohio League boys soccer action.

The Hurricane remains the only unbeaten team in the SCOL with a 9-0 record.

“We’re happy to walk out of Trace with a win,” WHS coach Imad El-Macharrafie said. “Their team is always fired up, especially under the circumstances they were under tonight. We give them a ton of credit for playing hard.”

Sam Spirk had two goals and two assists for the Hurricane. Charly Schumacher and Wyatt Kessler both had goals, with Kessler also recording an assist.

“Our biggest asset tonight was our strength and conditioning,” El-Macharrafie said. “We ran really well as the game went on which gave us great opportunities in front of the net. This was a valiant team effort win. We’re gonna rest up for a few days and get back to work next week on Tuesday against Clinton Massie at home.”

Jalen Douglas gobbled up six saves in goal for Wilmington.
