LYNCHBURG — The East Clinton volleyball team was defeated by Lynchburg-Clay in a non-league five-set match 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 10-15 Monday night.

“The girls fought hard against a great defensive team,” EC coach Sarah Sodini said. “It’s hard to go to five and lose. We need to finish what we start.”

Sodini said Paige Lilly, Kait Durbin, Mindy Bean and Kenzie Campbell played well all the way around the court. Carrie Pickering came off the bench and played well in the back row, the coach added. Kaitlyn Talbott stepped up and had her best offensive game of the season, according to Sodini. Lacey and Logan Peterman had great setting and defensive games, said Sodini.

Logan Peterman had 15 assists and six digs. Bean had four aces, seven kills, a block and 12 digs. Campbell finished with an ace, a kill, an assist, eight blocks and five digs. Lacey Peterman had five kills, 13 assists, three blocks and 10 digs.
