UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — The Wilmington College volleyball team opened Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday with a 25-9, 25-11, 25-9 loss to John Carroll at the DeCarlo Center.

Senior Kara Short dished out a team-high 11 assists with nearly half going to freshman Amber Rox, who had five kills on 22 attempts.

Rox finished with a team-high nine digs, while sophomore Sydney Smith added seven digs. Wilmington finished with 13 kills and 16 errors on 69 attempts.

Wilmington (1-15 overall, 0-1 OAC) hosts Capital 7 p.m. Tuesday in OAC action.
