The Wilmington College women’s soccer team had its eight-game unbeaten streak come to a halt Tuesday in a 5-0 loss to Capital in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.

“We did not play up to our potential today and that is the bottom line,” said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirk. “Defensively, midfield or offensively, we didn’t play up to our potential and they played very well.”

It didn’t take Capital long to take the lead, scoring 10:11 into the contest. It was the first goal Wilmington had surrendered in 503 minutes of action, spanning seven games.

The Crusaders continued to find space offensively, scoring three more times in the first half. Capital added a goal in the second half for the margin of victory.

Junior Ana Hosler had five saves on nine shots in 45 minutes of action, while freshman Leda Moyer had three saves on four shots in her 45 minutes.

Freshman Alex Vestal and sophomore Hannah Greaney each had three shots.

Wilmington (5-2-3) travels to Baldwin Wallace 7 p.m. Friday.
