BLANCHESTER — Regan Ostermeier posted her ninth shutout of the season and Taylor McQuitty scored the only goal of the match as Blanchester defeated Fairfield 1-0 Tuesday in a non-league battle at Barbour Memorial Field.

The Ladycats improve to 8-1-6 with the victory.

Blanchester had the better of the play in the first half but the two teams were tied at 0-0 through 30 minutes, coach Kurt Ballinger said.

Ostermeier started the decisive play with a long punt late in the half. Ballinger said Ostermeier’s kick “reached the opposing goal box off one bounce.”

From there, Sydney Scott corralled the kick and fed McQuitty who found the back of the net with her team-best seventh goal of the season.

Emily Hinkle, Emma Gundler and Merri Lindsey had well in the midfield for Blanchester, Ballinger said.

Ostermeier finished with five saves in goal.
