Late in the half off a corner kick, Wilmington put a head on the ball in front of the Chillicothe goal but it was blocked away by a CHS defender.
Just a few seconds later, Douglas made a save to send the two teams into the break at 0-0.
Chillicothe had the better of the player as the teams returned to the field in the second half and finally cashed in at 28:16 when Wilmington was unable to clear the ball from in front of its own goal.
After Spirk put yet another shot on goal in the 63rd minute, Chillicothe applied more pressure. A header went wide of an open net in the 68th minute then the Cavaliers hit the crossbar in the 70th minute.
The Cavaliers appeared to score a goal to make it 2-0 but the play was whistled for offside.
Wilmington had a chance to the equalizer and an outright league title but Charley Schumacher hit the crossbar in the final minute of the match.
