WC cross country season ends at GLR meet

HOLLAND, Mich. — The Wilmington College cross country season ended Saturday in the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional meet at Hope College.

Just one member of the WC women’s team competed in the meet. Stephanie Fetters, a senior from Milton-Union, ran 27:52.1 for the 6k race, finishing 218th overall.

On the men’s side, the Quakers were 33rd out of 36 competing teams but improved their overall average time by nearly 30 seconds from the Ohio Athletic Conference meet two weeks ago.

Junior Griffin Stith finished first for the Fightin’ Quakers in 27:19.6. His time earned him 132nd place in the field of 249 athletes.

Sophomore Rick Pride finished next in 166th place overall, his time 27:56.1. The next finishes for the Fightin’ Quakers came from freshman Jeff Clydesdale and sophomore Gage Egner. Clydesdale finished in 28:27.1 for 186th place and Egner, a Blanchester High School graduate, finished in 28:54.8 for 199th place.

Rounding out the regional team for the Fightin’ Quakers were junior Cameron Erwin who finished in 215th place (29:36.3) and sophomore Elliott Phillimore who finished 220th (29:42.5).
