For the fourth consecutive season, the Blanchester 9-year-old football team earned an undefeated Clermont County Youth Football League championship.
The young Wildcats defeated the Little Miami Green Panthers Saturday in the championship game 14-6.
Little Miami was the No. 2 seed overall, defeating Goshen in the semifinal round 14-8. The only losses of the season for the No. 2-seeded Panthers came in Week 2 to Blanchester, 14-8, and then again to the Wildcats in the title game.
This Blanchester team has went unbeaten and won CCYFL championships as 5-6 year olds, 7-year-olds and 8-year-olds prior to this season.
“This group of young footballers has won every game of the regular and post season since they were six years old,” said coach Jon Mulvihill. “In 2013, when they were 6, they beat Goshen in the (championship) and finished the season 10-0. In 2014, when they were 7, they beat Batavia in the (championship) and finished the season 11-0. In 2015, when they were 8, they beat Bethel in the (championship) and finished the season 10-0. This year they finished the season 12-0.”
This group has a 43-0 record over the last four seasons.
As an organization, Blanchester Youth Football won three of the six championships in the CCYFL this season. The Blanchester 5-6 year-olds and the 7-year-olds also won championship. Blanchester Youth Football “would like to thank all of the parents and families of the kids that we serve. Without their help, none of these accomplishments would be possible,” Mulvihill said.
