“We are still learning how to play together,” SSCC head coach Matt Wells said.

Southern State started its season with seven games in 11 days.

“I know we were tired but we kept at them all night, not letting the win slip from our hands.” Wells said. “It was a great game for our girls as we are showing more poise and trust with each other.”

Morgan Fittro had 12 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Sunnie Lehr blocked 4 shots and grabbed 6 rebounds. Natasha Barr had 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Cierra White, a Blanchester High School graduate, had 5 points and 3 rebounds.

Southern State trailed 18-16 at the end of the first quarter than took the lead at the break, 30-28. Andrews battled back to tie the game going to the fourth quarter, 46-46.

On Nov. 16, Southern State lost to UC-Clermont 99-67. Dinsmore led with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Fittro had 13 points and Barr added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Tia Shepherd had 8 points and 3 rebounds off the bench.

“Although we just got our first win, the team is being competitive in almost every game,” said Wells. “We are going to be out -numbered in almost every game. But, this group continues to strive to get better. We do have good leadership. The ladies are getting after it more. It is a long season, but I am hopeful at the end we can look back and say we got better every day.”
