EC JV, freshmen sweep 2 from Trace

LEES CREEK — The East Clinton reserve and freshman volleyball team won two matches Thursday against Miami Trace.

The reserve squad was a 19-25, 25-18, 25-22 winner. Coach Hannah Wilson said, “Miami Trace is a great team. It was awesome to see our girls win against such a competitive team. It was the confidence boost they needed.”

Victoria Jamison had five kills and three blocks. Logan Peterman had two aces, 12 assists, a kill and four digs. Mariah Dunn and Ashlyn Human had one dig each. Grace Cooper had a dig and an ace.

Lacey Peterman had three aces, three kills, two blocks and five digs. Megan Stewart had seven kills, one dig and two blocks Taylor Boeckman had seven digs. Miranda Beener had three digs. Kaitlyn Talbott had four aces, four kills and a dig.

The freshman Lady Astros won their first game 25-22, 18-25, 25-16.

Rayne Martinez had a good all-around game for EC, coach Wilson said. Ashlyn Human and Alexis Lyons played well in the back row and Grace Cooper had a strong game as setter.

“It was great to get a win for our first freshman game,” said Wilson. “They never got down on each other or themselves.”
