Aerial’s Athletics team members Jayme Maynard, Kiley Allen and Grace Vance were selected to the USA Gymnastics National Age Group Development Team and attended the USA Team Training Camp at the USA Olympic Training Center near Houston.

Allen is a junior at Blanchester High School while Vance is a sixth grader from Wilmington. Maynard is a senior at Hillsboro High School.

“The trip to the USA Olympic Training Center for the AGDT Training Camp was an amazing experience for our athletes and coaches,” said Layne. “We all learned new methods and training ideas that will help not just the trio but all our athletes at Aerial’s. I look forward to seeing the amazing things this trio will accomplish in the next few months. Jayme, Kiley and Grace were complimented often on their great attitudes, work ethic and willingness to learn. They represented their schools, families and communities very well. I’m very proud of each of them.”

The USA Olympic Training Center is located at Bela and Marta Karolyi’s Ranch north of Houston, Texas, according to Aerial’s Athletics coach Angie Layne.

The selection for the National Age Group Development Team came following their performance competing as a Level 10 Trio at the USA Gymnastics Championships this past June in Providence, R.I. The USA Gymnastics AGDT is a team of up and coming acrobatic gymnasts that have the potential to represent the USA in International Competition in the next 12-24 months, Layne said.

The training camp was an opportunity for the trio and their coaches — Layne and Taylor Coombs — to learn the best skills, drills, and technique from top clinicians in the US. Clinicians included former world champions Ivaylo Katsov and Michael Rodriquez, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders choreographer Christian Minnicks, who helped with artistry, dance and presentation.

Although the athletes did get to meet Bela and Marta Karolyi. The Karolyis recently retired and sold a portion of their ranch to USA Gymnastics to become the official USA Olympic Training Center for Gymnastics.
