WHS boys 6th, girls 7th at South Dearborn swim meet

SOUTH DEARBORN, Ind. — The Wilmington High School boys swim team finished sixth Saturday at the 32nd annual South Dearborn Swimming and Diving Invitational.

The Hurricane finished with 95 points while champion Cincinnati Oak Hills had 359 points. LaSalle was second and was followed by Milan (Ind.), South Dearborn, Ryle (Ky.), Wilmington and Oldenburg Academy (Ind.).

Girls team scoring had Ryle on top with 404 and Milan second with 162. Oak Hills was third and was followed by South Dearborn, Cincinnati Mother of Mercy, Oldenburg and Wilmington.

Wilmington had several athletes who reached the top six podium at the meet.

The girls 400-yard freestyle relay team of Brianna Gilbert, Abigail Greene, Ali Dooley and Morgan Bahr finished fourth in 4:27.41.

The boys 400 free relay swam 4:12.31, placed fifth and consisted of Sam Osborn, Xavier Disney, Elijah Schroeder and Harrison Law.

Individually, Osborn finished fourth in the boys 50-yard freestyle event in 24.53 seconds and then came back to finish fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.57 seconds.

Law was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:12.47 and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:05.64.

Dooley was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.41 and sixth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:40.03.

Wilmington picked up a couple of fifth place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay events. The girls quartet of Gilbert, Dooley, Bahr and Greene clocked 2:16.63 while the boys foursome of Luke Mulvey, Osborn, Law and Disney finished in 2:08.99.

Scoring for the Hurricane boys, Disney in the 200 free and 500 free, Schroeder in the 200 free and Simon Heys in the 100 back.

Also scoring for the Lady Hurricane, Bahr in the 200 free and the 100 butterfly, Anna Garnai in the 200 free and 500 free, Gilbert in the 50 free and the 100 free, Greene in the 100 free, Faith Long in the 100 breast, and the 200 free relay of Rachael Billups, Petra Bray, Long and Garnai.
