BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester girls basketball suffered its first loss of the season Monday in a non-league game to unbeaten Waynesville 67-27 at the BHS gym.

“Waynesville has a very skilled team and Tim (Gabbard) does a great job coaching them,” BHS head coach Bennie Carroll said.

The Ladycats are now 4-1 on the year while the Lady Spartans improve to 6-0.

Elecia Patton was the top scorer for Blanchester, netting six points in the loss. Mckenzie Miller had five points.

“We were unable to bother them at all with our pressure and we could not generate any offense,” Carroll said.

Blanchester trailed 11-5 after one quarter but then 30-11 at halftime. Waynesville put the pedal down in the third and increased the lead to 53-14.

“They were the more physical and aggressive team,” said Carroll. “We just got knocked back on our heels and never were able to create any momentum. They just beat us about every way possible. We will just get back to work and try to get ready for CNE on Thursday night.”

Rachel Murray led Waynesville with 14 points. Aubrey Rains had 12.
