ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Clinton-Massie opened its South Central Ohio League season with a pair of wins over Hillsboro and Washington Thursday night at the Lebanon Road gym.
The Falcons blitzed the Indians 51-21 then had a spirited battle with the Blue Lions 43-27.
“Our whole lineup looked solid top to bottom,” CM coach Spencer Running said. “We don’t have any real big gaps. We’re missing a 106 but I think we’ll fill that (soon).”
A trio of Falcons won two matches on the mat Thursday night — Nathan Gibbs at 132, Bryson Mills at 138 and Ross Lennon at 160. Several wrestlers won two matches, but had at least one forfeit.
Overall, it was a good start for Clinton-Massie, who has its sights set on a big things in 2016-17.
“With this team, there’s the possibility we could make it a couple rounds deep in the state duals,” Running said. “It all depends on your draw and how you’re seeded.”
The match of the night was probably the final one where Blake Seaman of Clinton-Massie went overtime to defeat Clay of Washington 9-7 at 120 pounds.
Washington defeated Hillsboro 54-21 in the other dual match of the night.
