Stacy leads WC women at Otterbein track, field meet

DELAWARE — The Wilmington College women’s track and field team competed in a nine-team invitational at Otterbein University Saturday. High finishes from several athletes helped the Fightin’ Quakers to capture sixth place with 42 points.

“[I’m] happy with today’s results, [especially] for the first meet of the [new] year,” WC head coach Ron Combs said. “[We now] have a meet under our belts and [we] brought everyone home healthy.”

Junior Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) clenched the two highest finishes for the team, finishing second in the shot put with a put of 12.74m and second in the weight throw with a distance of 14.60m.

The next highest finish came from freshman Anna Burke (Hilliard, OH/Darby). Burke finished third in the 60-meter hurdles final, clocking in with a 10.05.

The 4×200-meter relay team of senior Angela Dorsett (Pittsburgh, PA/West Mifflin), sophomore Brooklyn Payne (Chicago, IL/Chicago Agricultural School), Burke, and freshman Kacey Burns (Milford Center, OH/Fairbanks) claimed a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:56.26.

Senior Stephanie Fetters (West Milton, OH/Milton-Union) rounded out the high finishes by achieving a fifth-place finish in the 1000m run with a time of 3:48.35.

The Fightin’ Quakers head to Marietta Saturday for an OAC split meet.
