Massie outlasts WHS volleyball in 5

The Clinton-Massie volleyball team won a five-set marathon against Wilmington Thursday night 22-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-27, 15-13.

“The girls played hard and did not quit,” said CM coach Stephanie Reveal.

For the Lady Falcons, Tyler Greathouse served 27 points and finished with 11 kills, 13 digs and six aces. Brooke Rose had 26 points, one kill, four digs and five aces. Faith Cottrell had five kills, a block, four digs and four aces. Emilie Fisher had a kill and 16 digs. Paige Burton had seven kills and three digs.

Also for Massie, Haley Conley served 15 points, had nine assists, five digs and four aces. Julia Sowers had eight points, 19 assists, seven digs and two aces. Josie Wolfe had 11 digs. Nikki Settlemyre had two kills and Taylor Florea had three kills and three blocks.

Despite the loss, Wilmington coach Jordan Watson said, “The girls played so great. They all gave 110 percent effort.”
