WC women’s track, field team fourth at Cedarville

CEDARVILLE- The Wilmington College women’s track and field team finished fourth Friday in an invitational at Cedarville University.

As has become the norm, junior Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) snagged the highest finishes for the team. Stacy placed first in both the shot put (12.96 meters) and the weight throw (16.59).

Immediately following Stacy’s finish in the weight throw was freshman teammate Zara Zeller (Covington, OH/Covington). Zeller finished second with a throw of 13.26 meters. Baylee Sentman (Mount Orab, OH/Western Brown) finished just behind, in fifth, with a distance of 12.23 meters.

Freshman Kennedy Horn (Milford Center, OH/Fairbanks) competed in the shot put for the Fightin’ Quakers, as well, finishing fourth with a put of 9.83 meters.

The 4×200-meter relay made up of: sophomores Cierra Johnson, Brooklyn Payne (Chicago, IL/Chicago Agricultural School), and Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Senior); and freshman Emma Burke (Hilliard, OH/Darby) achieved a third-place finish with a time of 1:55.99.

The distance medley was run by: Burke, senior Stephanie Fetters (West Milton, OH/Milton-Union), and freshmen Allison Helmke (Defiance, OH/Tinora) and Kacey Burns (Milford Center, OH/Fairbanks). The quartet grabbed a fourth-place finish with a time of 14:15.68.

Burke also placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles clocking in at 9.40. Lovett immediately followed, finishing fifth with a time of 10.17.

The Fightin’ Quakers head to the Indoor All-Ohio meet hosted by Otterbein University on February 11.
