The East Clinton eighth grade boys basketball team split games with Miami Trace and Chillicothe.

The Astros were defeated by the Cavaliers 35-32.

Branson Smith led the offense with 11 points. Dylan Peterman had 10 points and Caleb Kingery scored five points. Quentin Tolle and Kent Davis had two points each.

“I give credit to Chillicothe, well-coached and fundamentally sound,” EC coach Eli Hogsett said. “We missed some free throws and let them have too many offensive rebounds.”

East Clinton (9-5 on the year) defeated Miami Trace 41-36.

Smith had 20 points while Peterman and Taylor McComas scored six points each. Jaycee Smithson put through four points.

“A very high energy game,” Hogsett said. “We played a great game defensively. We rebounded well, and the offense was efficient all night. We made our free throws when it mattered at the end.”
