Rodney “Butch” Whitaker was honored Tuesday night at halftime of the Blanchester High School varsity boys basketball game with East Clinton. Whitaker was an assistant coach for the BHS softball program for 24 seasons. He retired following the 2014 season. While at BHS, Whitaker worked with three head coaches — Dean Lynch, Matt Sexton and Jamey Grogg. During Whitaker’s 24 seasons, the Ladycats won 341 games, several league and sectional championships and in 2005 earned a berth in the state Final Four. In the photo, Blanchester athletic director Bryan Pennix presents Whitaker with a plaque for his dedication and service to BHS.
