Going into 2nd day, CM 1st, EC 3rd at sectional wrestling

Sectional wrestling tournaments involved Clinton County teams will continue today at Blanchester High School and Washington Senior High School.

At Blanchester, which includes BHS and East Clinton wrestlers, wrestling will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. At the conclusion of the consolation semifinal matches, there will be 45 minute break before wrestling continues with fifth-, third- and first-place matches.

Going into today’s action, East Clinton is third in the team standings while Blanchester is fifth. Astro wrestlers in the semifinal round are Brayden Esposito (106), Austin Brock (132), Noah Morgan (152), Thomas Wright (160), John Cline (170).

Blanchester wrestlers in the semis are Kyle Denier (120), Kadin Berwanger (126), Johnny Schirmer (132), Clayton Schirmer (138) and James Peters (195).

Wrestling at Washington Senior, where Wilmington and Clinton-Massie wrestlers are competing, wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Clinton-Massie leads the Southeast sectional meet while Wilmington is currently in eighth place.

Falcons in the semifinal round are Matt Asher (113), Blake Seaman (120), Zach Dillow (138), Robbie Frederick (145), Ross Lennon (160), Anthony Tissandier (170), Cody Collingham (182), Sam Brothers (220).

For Wilmington, wrestlers in the semifinals are Sam Eastes (106), Cameron Smart (113), Isaac Allen (160), RJ Tolliver (182) and Conner Barton (285).

The top four in each weight class at both sectional tournaments will advance to district competition next week – Div. II at Wilmington High School and Div. III at Hobart Arena. District competition will be held March 3 and March 4 at both sites.
