ADAMS TOWNSHIP — The Clinton-Massie boys tennis team won its first match since 2013 Monday with a 3-2 triumph over Hillsboro in South Central Ohio League action on the CM courts.
“We are still experimenting with doubles pairings to see what works best,” CM coach Lynn Deatherage said. “The second doubles pairing of Pierce LeVangie and Joe Hammonds worked very well together in their win. Every court showed improvement tonight and won at least one game. All three singles players were much improved in their efforts.”
Deatherage said Clayton Amburgy’s second-set tiebreaker win and a third-set win by LeVangie and Hammonds were keys to the win.
The match concluded just before rain entered the area, Deatherage said. Clinton-Massie is 1-1 in the SCOL.
Clinton-Massie has not had a boys tennis team the past three seasons.
