LEES CREEK — Ethan Cornwell scattered four hits as East Clinton won its first South Central Ohio League baseball game of the season Tuesday over Chillicothe, 4-1.
The game was stopped after six innings because of lightning.
East Clinton is 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the SCOL.
“Cornwell pitched a great game,” EC coach Brian Carey said. “He filled the (strike) zone up and let his defense work.”
Cameron Conner homered and doubled for the Astros, who collected eight hits in the win.
“I was very proud of the way we hit from the top to the bottom of the lineup,” Carey said. “We played exactly the way we all knew we could. The energy started when they got to the field and it continued throughout the entire game.”
Matthew Mitchell and Matthew Hall both had two hits for the Astros.
