LEES CREEK — Hillsboro scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning Monday and defeated East Clinton 8-0 in a South Central Ohio League baseball game at the EC diamond.
The Astros drop to 4-8 overall and 1-6 in the SCOL.
The Indians led 1-0 going to the seventh. EC hurler Cameron Conner kept Hillsboro at bay through six, allowing just one hit.
But the first seven Highland County batters reached base to start the seventh and the game was essentially over.
“We played a great six innings,” EC coach Brian Carey said. “The last inning, we couldn’t find the zone and Hillsboro started hitting the ball in the gaps.”
Ethan Cornwell had two hits for East Clinton.
“We missed a few opportunities to grab the lead early but couldn’t capitalize,” said Carey.
