7 errors doom Astros in 6-3 loss to Panthers

LEES CREEK — Seven East Clinton errors led to three unearned runs for Miami Trace in the Panthers 6-3 win Wednesday in South Central Ohio League baseball action at ECHS.

“We gave tonight’s game to them,” EC coach Brian Carey said. “This one hurts.”

The loss puts the Astros at 4-9 overall and 1-7 in the SCOL.

“Seven errors cost us,” Carey said. “We gave them five outs an inning for multiple innings and they capitalized on it. We hit the ball well but our defense has to pick it up. As a team, we have to stop letting our physical errors affect us and turn into more mental errors.”

Cameron Conner had a couple of hits for EC. Ethan Cornwell gave up just one earned run in his seven innings on the mound for the Astros.

Skyler McDonald had a big night for the Panthers. He was the winning pitcher and also had a double, homerun and two RBI at the plate.
