KINGS MILLS — Wilmington’s Rodger O. Borror Middle School tennis team was defeated by Kings 3-2 Monday afternoon.

The young Hurricane, now 3-3 on the year, played well but came up short, coach Cathy Fay said.

“Avery Bradshaw’s opponent hit the ball the hardest I have ever seen a middle school player hit,” Fay said. “They were like bullets.”

Claire Burns and Jenna Taylor battled hard in their first doubles match but fell 3-6, 6-7 (3-7).

Jacob Romer and Caleb Reed posted wins for Wilmington.
