BHS softball secures 2nd in SBC National

BLANCHESTER — After a slow start, Blanchester erupted for 12 runs in the sixth inning Wednesday and gunned down Georgetown 16-1 in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division play.

The win allows Blanchester to secure second place in the league standings behind unbeaten and state-ranked Williamsburg. The Ladycats are 12-7 overall and 8-2 in SBCN play. Georgetown falls to 11-8, 6-4.

“I wasn’t sure how we would play tonight but the girls kept their focus and came ready to play,” BHS head coach Jamey Grogg said.

Blan led 4-1 after five innings then scored 12 runs in the sixth to end it.

Jay Dalton had three hits with three runs bated in. Shelbie Rose hit her first career homerun.

Maddie Curless scattered four hits and struck out five.
