OWENSVILLE — Led by Mckenzie Hamm, the Blanchester girls track and field team finished second Wednesday in the Southern Ohio Classic at Clermont Northeastern High School.
East Clinton also took part in the meet. The top finish for the Lady Astros was in the 4×200-meter relay where Emilee Cross, Mindy Bean, Rebecca Bevan and Veronica Brewer finished sixth in 2:11.7.
Hamm was the female runner of the meet. She won the 800-meter run and was part of two winning relays. In the 4×800-meter relay, Hamm, Olivia Gundler, Savannah Rhodes and Alley Davis clocked 10:50.31. In the 4×400-meter relay, Hamm, Olivia Gundler, Davis and Emma Gundler finished in 4:33.77.
Olivia Gundler won the 1,600-meter run in 5:47.01 while Emma Gundler hit the line first in the 400-meter dash in 65.03 seconds. Asia Baldwin won the 300-meter hurdles in 51.92 seconds and Savannah Rhodes won the 3,200-meter run in 12:49.62.
Regan Ostermeier swept honors in the throws — shot put 34-0.5 and discus 98-10.
West Carrollton won the meet with 148 points while Blanchester finished with 146 points. East Clinton was eighth with 11 points.
