BLANCHESTER — Ross scored nine runs in the sixth inning Friday and defeated Blanchester 13-4 in a Div. II sectional softball game at BHS.
The loss ends the Ladycats’ season at 13-9.
Ross advances to the lower bracket sectional championship game 5 p.m. Tuesday against Wilmington at Kings High School.
“After the game, we honored our seniors, Dakota Demitt, Sydney Scott and Shayla Sicurella,” BHS coach Jamey Grogg said. “It was definitely not the way we wanted things to end for them, but I just want to say that I am so thankful to those girls for the commitment and dedication they have given the softball program these past four years. They are a great group of young ladies and I know they will each be successful as they move on to the next phase of their lives.”
Blanchester trailed twice early in the game but bounced back each time. Down 1-0, the Ladycats tied the game in the second on Scott’s RBI groundout.
The Lady Rams went back on top 3-1 but Hannah Mann and Shelbie Rose both had two-out hits to tie the game at 3-3.
“Each time they took the lead, we responded and tied the game, but when they went up 5-3 in the fifth, we just weren’t able to bounce back again,” said Grogg. “The girls really battled at the plate and came up with some big hits, but we just could not gain the momentum.”
