WATA middle school team wins Schroeder Invitational

TIPP CITY — The Wilmington Area Tennis Association middle school tennis team won the inaugural eight-team Schroeder Middle School Invitational tennis tournament Saturday.

The Wilmington team defeated Troy 3-2 in the championship match. The young Hurricane squad opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Sidney in the first round then knocked off Miamisburg in the semifinals.

“A great win,” WATA middle school coach Cathy Fay said. “I was thrilled how well everyone played. Great effort was demonstrated by every player.”
