Regional track, field set to get underway

Clinton County athletes in track and field will begin competition this week in the Southwest Regional meets at a trio of sites in the area.

Wilmington and East Clinton athletes will compete Wednesday in their respective meets – Wilmington boys and girls at the Division I regional at Welcome Stadium and East Clinton boys at the Division III meet at Troy High School. These athletes will continue competition on Friday.

Following is the schedule for Wednesday events:

• Wilmington HS Jessica Haynie discus 5 pm field start @Welcome Stadium, D1 SW Regional

• Wilmington HS Ryland Bowman 200 dash 630 pm run start @Welcome Stadium, D1 SW Regional

• East Clinton Thomas Wright discus 4 pm field start @Troy High School, D3 SW Regional

• East Clinton boys 4×100 relay 5 pm run start @Troy High School, D3 SW Regional

• East Clinton Wes Kidder 300 hurdles 5 pm run start @Troy High School, D3 SW Regional

On Thursday, Blanchester and Clinton-Massie boys and girls will start competition in the Division II regional at Piqua High School. These athletes will continue competition on Saturday.

Following is the schedule for Thursday events:

• Blanchester Regan Ostermeier shot put 5 pm field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie Jocelyn Burton shot put 5 pm field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Blanchester Joey Holcomb shot put 5 pm field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Blanchester girls 4×800 relay 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie boys 4×800 relay 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie Luke Richardson 100 dash 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie boys 4×200 relay 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie girls 4×100 relay 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie boys 4×100 relay 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Blanchester Asia Baldwin 300 hurdles 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Blanchester girls 4×400 relay 630 pm run start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

On Friday, WHS and EC athletes who qualified during running preliminaries on Wednesday will return for finals. Also field events not contested Wednesday will be held Friday.

Following is the schedule of events, not including Wednesday running event qualifiers, for Friday:

• Wilmington HS Jessica Haynie shot put 5 pm field start @Welcome Stadium, D1 SW Regional

• East Clinton Ethan Ambrose high jump 430 pm field start @Troy High School, D3 SW Regional

On Saturday, BHS and CMHS boys and girls, and East Clinton girls will continue competition at Piqua in the Division II regional. Field events and running event qualifiers will compete.

• Clinton-Massie Preslee Rolf pole vault 11 am field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie Chris Demler high jump 11 am field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Blanchester Regan Ostermeier discus 11 am field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie Jocelyn Burton discus 11 am field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• East Clinton Camille Hughes discus 11 am field start @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Clinton-Massie Patience Chowning 1600 run 105 pm @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Blanchester Tanner Creager 800 run 2 pm @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

• Blanchester Savannah Rhodes 3200 run 215 pm @Piqua High School, D2 SW Regional

Wilmington’s Jessica Haynie qualified for the Division I Southwest Regional Track and Field Championship meet in the shot put and discus. She will throw the discus on Wednesday and the shot put on Friday at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium.
